Statutory audits, reviews, agreed-upon procedures and donor audits
Audit and assurance
Statutory audits, independent reviews and agreed-upon procedures for companies, NGOs and donor-funded projects in Lesotho.
An audit is more than a signature on your financial statements. Done well, it gives your board, shareholders, lenders and funders confidence that the numbers are fairly stated, and it gives management a clear view of where controls can be stronger.
Lebesa CA and Advisory Services is listed by the Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA) as a registered audit firm. Engagements are led by partner Moratuoa Lebesa-Hlongwa CA(L), who stays involved from planning to the final report.
What we offer
We carry out statutory audits of annual financial statements, independent reviews where an audit is not required, and agreed-upon procedures where you or a third party need specific matters checked. We also audit donor-funded projects and grants, working to the funder's terms of reference and reporting formats.
We plan carefully, ask for what we need early, and keep you informed as the work progresses. Findings are discussed with you before they are reported, and our management letter focuses on practical improvements that suit the size of your organisation.
Who it is for
- Companies that need a statutory audit of their annual financial statements
- NGOs and projects that report to donors and funders
- Boards and owners who want independent comfort on the numbers
- Organisations whose lenders or funders ask for reviewed or audited accounts
How it works
- 01
Scope and engagement letter
We agree the scope, reporting framework, timetable and fee in writing before any work begins.
- 02
Planning
We learn how your organisation works, assess the risks and send a clear list of the documents we need.
- 03
Fieldwork
We test balances, transactions and controls, and raise questions as they come up rather than saving them for the end.
- 04
Reporting
We discuss draft findings with management, then issue the signed report and a management letter.
- 05
Follow-up
We help you act on the recommendations so that next year's audit runs more smoothly.
Questions
Does my company need an audit?
It depends on the type of entity, its constitution and what your shareholders, lenders or funders require. We will look at your situation and confirm what applies to you.
What is the difference between an audit and a review?
An audit gives reasonable assurance and involves detailed testing. A review gives limited assurance, based mainly on enquiry and analysis, and can be enough where an audit is not required.
Can you audit a donor-funded project to the funder's terms?
Yes. We read the grant agreement and the funder's audit terms of reference first, and report in the format they ask for.
What do you need from us to get started?
Your trial balance, bank statements, key contracts and last year's financial statements are a good start. We send a full request list once planning is done.
